Has KD Passed LeBron?

Paul Pierce is 'The Truth'. Paul Pierce said Kevin Durant is the best player in the NBA. By the transitive property, Kevin Durant being the best player in the NBA is the truth. For the fun of hypotheticals, let's say Paul Pierce's nickname holds no real value in this situation; we've got ourselves a debate. Kevin Durant has looked like a 2k demigod all Finals, while carrying the Warriors to a commanding 3-0 lead. LeBron James has been well LeBron James, but he can't get his team to muster a win. Team Durant and Team LeBron both have compelling arguments, so let's hear them.

Leader in the series gets to decide the order, so Team KD gets to pick who starts.

"Let that bitch go first." says P̶a̶p̶a̶ ̶D̶o̶c̶ Team KD.

Team LeBron

This entire argument is blasphemous. At the start of the Finals, LeBron James was the widely agreed upon best player in the world. So how does a guy averaging 32ppg 12.3rpg and 10.3apg on a 55% field goal percentage get dethroned? Trick question, he doesn't. Russell Westbrook losing to James Harden in the first round didn't suddenly make Harden the better player; it just proved he had the better team. LeBron James losing to Kevin Durant, especially while averaging a 30 point triple double, doesn't make Durant the better player; it just proves he's on the better team. The proclamation of it no longer being LeBron's league is nothing new. Stop me if you heard this before. LeBron is getting up there in age I think it's ( Kevin Durant, Derrick Rose, Stephen Curry, Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant)'s league now. Every year or two a new name pops up, but the best player in the league always remains LeBron James.

One word, "Symbolism".

Watch the clip below, and know that no further argument is needed for Kevin Durant.

Kevin Durant dribbled up the court, told LeBron to step up, wet the shot, then whispered in LeBron's ear, "It's my league now." Give or take a few details. Durant has been as close to perfect as a player can be all Finals. He's averaging 32ppg on 55% field goal and 3-point shooting, while grabbing 10rpg and averaging less than half the amount of turnovers LeBron averages. It's safe to say he'll be the 2017 Finals MVP. By the end of the Finals, Durant will finally have that first ring and his greatness can no longer be ignored. Kevin Durant is 7-feet tall and has the second best handles on his team, he hits shots from anywhere on anyone, and under the Warrior's system his defense is finally getting the recognition it deserves. With a ring, Durant will finally get the title he deserves as the best player in the world.

Winner

There's a lot of winners in this LeBron-KD battle. Fans of basketball, Nike, the NBA, ABC, Nike again. But if a decision had to be made between the two, LeBron has done too much in this Finals for his reign as King of the NBA to end here. Kevin Durant is close to the top of the mountain, but it LeBron isn't coming down just yet.

PS: Cavs in 7.

Welcome to the team!
